Marvel Vs DC – In The Courtroom Brother!

When you’ve been a comic book fan for a very long time, inevitably you find yourself wondering about things like who would win in a fight, The Avengers or The Justice League for example, but I’m kicking it up a notch. I want to shine a light on some overlooked aspects of the fandom of these universes, and I’m going to start by looking at which universe has the better lawyers.

This all started when I tried to recall if DC had any lawyers on par with the famous Marvel Universe lawyers. Thanks to the Netflix show (and if you go back a good several years the movie too), most people know that Daredevil – AKA Matt Murdock – is a lawyer. But Marvel also has another prominent super powered lawyer, Jennifer Walters, The Sensational She-Hulk!

Oddly, Matt Murdock doesn’t wear his costume in the courtroom.

So if you need a lawyer in the Marvel universe you’re in pretty good hands, but what about the DC Universe? When you think DC Universe lawyer, the first person that popped into my head was this guy…

Err, no offense Harvey, you were a great lawyer pre-accident, but now ya crazy! You MIGHT get a good defense from him if the coin flip lands in your favor, but there HAS to be someone else in the DC Universe that could represent you in the courtroom other than Two-Face, right? RIGHT?

Enter Manhunter, aka Kate Spencer. I don’t know DC as well as I do Marvel, so I’m only a little familiar with her, but upon reading about her she has a pretty cool background. First off, being a lawyer might possibly be a requirement to be Manhunter, as the previous Manhunter (Mark Shaw) was also a lawyer. Besides the pedigree of the Manhunter mantle, Kate has taken on many challenging legal battles, defending Wonder Woman on one prominent occasion (I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so go read “The OMAC Project” when you have a minute), did a stint as Gotham City’s DA (which you KNOW isn’t an easy job), and is currently Oliver Queen’s (AKA Green Arrow) attorney. Go Kate!

Now that we know our players, who has the better lawyers? Sorry DC, but Marvel takes it here. Maybe if one of your two notable lawyers wasn’t a murderous psychopath I’d hire you, but he is so I’m not. Who knows though, numerous villains have reformed over time. There is precedent in Batman villains turning good, both The Riddler and Clayface had runs as good guys, but until Two-Face turns good make my fictional lawyers Marvel! Who would you want as your lawyer from the Marvel or DC Universe? Let me know in the comments and I’ll catch you next time!
